  9. To my dear Mum
A country girl who spent 10 years with us in Melbourne and now back home at last. We were so privileged to be able to drop in and see you anytime. Thank you for passing on some of your many talents to me and I have many things around me that we have made together. You were gracious right to the end and although I can’t be with you, what I have in abundance is your strength, your zest for life, your beliefs and you values and these will remain with me always. X

Sadly, and only due to this pandemic, we cannot be with you to celebrate the life of the wonderfully caring person that your mother was and to share in and with you the memories I have of her.
“Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold”.
Hopefully once all this is over we can all catch up again at a Speirs reunion and share our stories.

  13. To all the family of Evelyn
I remember your mum with fondness for her quiet manner. she always created peace. Her vilify of using the organ also did that. Mu mum and her sisters spoke with neighbourly friendliness of their years at school and times in Balintore. I wish to pass on our sympathy and regards to you all at a time of remembrance. She has lived a long and hopefully healthy life. Mum enjoyed her lovely letter received just before Mum died and could not reply. My childhood memories are returning with the deaths of many of the older familiar faces.

  15. Lifelong memories of our Auntie Evelyn, sister and sister-in-law of our parents Jack and Em Neale. Auntie Evelyn was always interested and encouraging as we grew up and on into our adult years. Her involvement in community, district and church life was deeply grounded and maintained connections for us to the generations who came before. Her youthful enthusiasm for life and for those around her was always there, even into her tenth decade. Rest in peace Auntie Evelyn, you are much loved. Our love and deepest sympathy to Marion, Lauren, Glenda, Hilary and families.

  17. Condolences to all Evelyn’s family.
I have fond memories of piano lessons in the front room of the Balintore house in the 90s and Evelyn was always encouraging and caring even though I was probably the worst student she ever had.

  18. An unforgettable lady who used her musical talent to bring pleasure to others. She stepped in as accompanist to the Lavers Hill Choir in 1994 despite the long distance she had to travel weekly. She encouraged all who needed to learn their part for a performance whether they were soprano, alto, tenor or base. She even allowed us to meet in her home for some practices.
Evelyn gave us confidence to keep going even as we aged while she never seemed to grow old and was always up for entertainment and fun. Sadly, she left us, but we have our memories of a musically gifted lady who became such a good friend to all members of the Lavers Hill Choir and especially to Ellise and John Angel, (Choir Master).

I am privileged to be named after her…. she and Mr Spiers were very special friends of my parents, Keith & Vola Bellis.
