Born Tuesday March 10, 1942. Passed away Wednesday July 30, 2025.
Dearly loved Husband of Winsome and loving Father and Father in Law of Peter and Sharon, Anthony, Joshua and Ellie, Winsome and Nick Batchelor.
Loved Papa of Cassandra, Ash, Sunny, Lily-Rose, Campbell, Ellen, Johannes and Isaiah. Loved son of Ludovicus and Antonia De Jong (both deceased) and loved brother of Ria Norman, Adriana Stewart and Johanna Murnane.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around you,
and whispered, “Come to Me’.
With tearful eyes we watched you,
and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
May he rest in peace.
Funeral notice
Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Mr. Josephus "Jos" De Jong will be offered at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Gellibrand Street, Colac (NEXT) Tuesday, August 12, 2025 commencing at 1 p.m. The Funeral will leave the Church at the conclusion of Mass for the Colac Lawn Cemetery.

Having spent time with Jos recently chatting and reliving our fond memories of Forrest and district was wonderful moment for me .

In many ways you saved me Uncle Josh. You are a large part of the why I am able to live the good life today. After Dad died you and Winnie took me under your wings and continued to raise me as my father had done before. Barwon Downs was my happy place. The hills and the East Barwon River in Spring, the warm piggery in Winter and the robust conversations around the kitchen table after morning milking, are all great memories for me. Even today when I'm reflecting on my life, my mind often goes to the farm at Barwon Down and I always feel good inside as a result. You and Aunty Winnie have been an extraordinary team. It is now time for you to rest and catch up with Mumma and Puppa.
