1. Remembering our long friendship, the times you ‘took us in to Chez Barr’, and the many adventures we had together over the years. Thank you Esne for your friendship and always making us feel like we were one of the family. Thank you also for being the ‘Mother in Law’ you were to my late brother Michael. 6. Although my relationship with Nanny was brief, it was also unforgettable for me. Nanny was the first family member of Robert’s I met in Australia. She was a kind mother. She was very friendly. 10. To our dear Barr extended family

    Our loving thoughts are with you in this time of grief. Esne was such a lynchpin in a remarkably warm and inclusive family that took not just Liz and James into their heart and family via Josie but taught us all so much about the power of love, warmth and humanity. Esne will be sorely missed but rest assured that thirty years on from her initial embrace we are here to support you all in whatever way you need. We love you all

11. Our hearts reach out to all the Barr’s who have embraced us as part of their extended family. Esne’s warmth and kindness were the lynchpin of the family for us via Josie. She loved Elizabeth and James as if they were her own. She gave them her values and grounded them in her warmth and generosity of spirit along with her humanity. Esne will be sorely missed by all of us. She will be in our hearts forever. RIP.

12. My Condolences to the Barr Family. While we are all saddened by her passing, we should be comforted by the great many lives Es touched and the great contribution she made to the education of students in her community. She mentored me in my early days as a teacher and became a great friend. I was always welcomed into her household and have many great memories of days and nights at Kevin St. She was a pioneer in so many ways and made a real difference. May she rest in peace.
