Tributes

Leave a tribute
  1. To all Greg's family, we were saddened to hear of his passing.

Greg was such a memorable teacher for all our children through the years at South West Primary. We also enjoyed being part of the many school student trips away & all the sports days that Mr. Brauer was always a great mentor and fun leader. He was 'King of the Kids', wherever he went around the school, there was a gang following him and chatting about this and that.

I had Mr.Brauer as my PE teacher all throughout Primary School and he is still to this day one of my favourite teachers of all time. He would always make jokes, his laugh was contagious, he would sing and dance everywhere he went, gave everyone unconditional support and would always put full effort into everything he did including recess games. He was such a kindhearted, funny man and made our school experiences all the better for knowing him. An amazing man that you would see involved with so many cool things around town including after school activities, where even there he would try to always put a smile on your face.

Thank you for being an amazing influence to us all Mr.Brauer, we are so blessed to have had you in our lives.

  67. This is incredibly sad.

Mr Brauer was my PE teacher at Colac South West Primary School many years ago.

He made school fun, and PE was the highlight of my school week.

He cared for the kids, encouraged those of all abilities to get involved and he got the best out of each and everyone.

Mr Brauer was not just a teacher, but a friend and an inspiration.

Personally, he had a huge impact on my life as a youngster and I owe a lot to him.

I have fond memories of the days when we’d see him running to school from the top of the Elliminyt hill on Woodrowvale Rd and he’d always give us a wave and a smile. Then he’d run home again.

Thanks for giving the Oates kids such a great start in life. We will certainly miss you.

    Rest easy, Mr Brauer.

  71. Greggy you were a ripping teacher and even better bloke! Always willing to have a chat, throw a bit of banter around and just have a laugh.

I was fortunate to watch the master PE teacher at work in my early days and from that moment I wanted to follow in your footsteps. You had the kids wrapped around your finger with your fun personality and you gave them all the time of day. Even after you had retired and popped back in, I remember looking out in the yard, wondering where half the school had gone before hearing ‘Mr Brauer is here’ and seeing you mobbed like a celebrity.

You were one of a kind, and no doubt every school would love a ‘Mr Brauer’ as a part of their staff and as a friend.

My thoughts are with Julie and the family during this tough time.

    Rest easy Greggy!

  85. Greg (Goog) a wonderful brother remembering our days growing up in Wyelangta working on Ally and Corkers farm - playing saxophone in our little “tin pot band” in and around the Otway with Great Uncle Charlie and myself. Fun times. I also enjoyed the many massages and chats over 30 years. You called at home every day after school to help me with my shoulder rehab. Norma and I will miss our gardening times at her place and the beer o’clock afterwards. You were always there for our family and we had many joyous occasions. You fought a long hard battle and did your best. May you rest in peace. Will miss you Goog. Sister Jen.❤️❤️❤️
