  1. Brian and I both worked at the Gordon TAFE many years ago. Brian was instrumental in establishing the first Union for the non teaching staff of the College which, from memory, was named VCUSA but now NTEU (National Tertiary Education Union). He advocated strongly for the well-being and conditions of staff.

Brian was the first to be appointed to the position of Librarian following the move of the Institute section to Waurn Ponds, and the establishment of the Gordon Institute of TAFE.

My condolences to Brian’s family and friends. I hope this next stage of his journey was a peaceful one and he is now in a far better place.

  2. We Have enjoyed caring for Brian in the Dilayisi Unit at the Epworth Hospital for many years. We know he particuly enjoyed traveling to the UK during this period and was surprised at how well that worked for him. Brian enjoyed great relationships with his volunteer drivers and Dialysis staff and was always engaged in intersting converstaion. We hope Brian rests peacefully. From Ingrid and the Dialysis Team.

  6. I had the privilege of caring for Brian as his GP for 25 years. He was uncomplaining and always a font of eclectic knowledge. Science, travel, current affairs and of course his passion for propagating orchids inevitably embellished each encounter. I will miss him.

  7. I met Brian in 1972 when he took a camping trip to Morocco, and I was the one-person crew: tour guide, driver, etc. It was a really fun group, we had a great trip, and Brian was a terrific contributor, though we didn’t stay in touch. Ten years on, both he and I had migrated to Australia, and one day I showed up in his library at Gordon to try to sell him an information service. Half way through our meeting he said “you don’t remember me, do you?”. And of course we spent the rest of the morning recalling people and places from that Moroccan adventure. Happy memories, did he still have photos, I wonder? Sad to read of his death.
