I knew Derry from our school days at Colac High School, he was a few years ahead of me. Derry was persuaded to play football. Tall, awkward and jovial Derry endeared himself to his House teammates. After leaving school Derry acquired a Toyota Crown coupe, which seemed an unusual choice and quite a talking point amongst his contemporaries.
Some years ago, travelling from Queensland I had stopped at Coonabarabran one evening. Found a café, and Derry was there. We recognised each other and Derry insisted we share a table. We reminisced about school days and offered our opinions on a range of subjects. It was April 1972, the last time I saw Derry, yet I remember it clearly.
Vale Derry, rest peacefully.
Wayne Matthews.

Derry was one of those guys – always friendly, always helpful, always positive. Remember him as a mechanic with crazy Martin FitzGerald and the wild crew on pea viners at Wattie Pict. Fun times they were. Condolences to all the family. Cheers Derry.

Derry was that tall cousin living just two houses away. The cousin I never knew really well earlier but later come to know as a big man at hart. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to everybody in the Craig family. Don, my dad, the youngest remaining of 12 Arnott’s said he will be thinking about you all today and asked me to pass on his thoughts and sympathy. Max and Assunta Arnott on behalf of the Arnott family.
