  8. I was a trainee from Canada and lived with and worked for Jack and Marie on their dairy farm over thirty years ago. I also got to know Diane and Julie well. They all showed me much kindness and I felt like part of the family. Jack and Marie had even came to Canada to visit with me and my family . Many great memories . Jack and I had kept in touch over the years with many letters shared back and forth and I will miss that. Simply put, Jack was a good man and I am very fortunate to have known him. My condolences to Diane and the family .

  10. comhbhrón ó chroí le Diane agus lena muintir.
Carachtar ildaite i mo shaol ab ea Uncail Jack. Cé gur fhág mé an Astráil breis agus 30 bliain ó shin lean sé air ag déanamh teagmhála liom lena litreacha ildaite cúpla uair sa bhliain. Caillfidh mé a chuid litreacha agus a fhrithghníomhartha aisteacha ar a raibh ag tarlú ina shaol. Ceann de na cuimhní cinn is luaithe atá agam ná siúl suas go dtí a dhéiríocht agus a lámh ar éigean in ann a fheiceáil thar a chuid guma, a chreid mé ag an am a bheith ar an aitheantas is mó a chonacthas riamh, agus é ag insint dom faoi na ba a chuaigh thart orainn. Imithe ach gan dearmad. R.I.P Uncail Jack.

sincere condolences to Diane and family.
Uncle Jack was a colorful character in my life. Even though i had left Australia over 30 years ago he continued to keep in contact with me with his colorful letters several times a year. I will miss his letters and his quirky antidotes of what was happening in his world. One of my earliest memories is walk up to his dairy holding his hand barely able to see over his gumboots, which i believed at the time to be the biggest in the world, and him telling me all about the cows we passed. Gone but not forgotten. R.I.P Uncle Jack.
    sincerely

  12. A true gentleman I had the pleasure to listen to and work with in promoting the dairying industry as one that gave young people an opportunity to be well trained and receive a great pathway to a rewarding career. This he was very passionate about. My thoughts are with Jacks family at this sad time. Thank you Mr Hester and may you rest in peace,

  13. Many of my fondest memories as a child, and later as an adult when I wound up working for him, are related to Jack and his family and his farm.
There was never a moment of silence in the dairy, there was always something to learn from him, or just a story of times past – that almost always wound up teaching me something new anyway.
Jack always showed great kindness and patience, often far more than I deserved, he was a great man.
He will be remembered and missed.

  16. Our first neightbour when Mike and I rented one of their houses at WoolWool in 1974. Jack welcomed us with generosity: family meals & celebrations, vegetables from that productive garden out the back, fresh milk from the dairy, and those amazing gladiolus!
Ready with a smile and laugh, Jack always made time to chat and listen despite his busy farming life and his many and varied contributions to community: education, water catchment, dairying, RSL, sport and health. Such a long and productive life. Now resting in peace.
You’ve been a valued godfather to Tim. Thankyou Jack
