Passed away peacefully at Sunnyside House, Camperdown.
Loving wife of Barry (dec). Adored mother of Diane Bailey, Leanne (dec), Wendy and Shaun Schroter. Treasured Nana of Sean, Laura and Lachie; Heide, Freya and Indy. Special Great Nana of Harvey.
God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered, ‘Come to me’.
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Funeral notice
The Funeral of Mrs. Lorraine Joan Oates will be held at the Cobden Uniting Church, 61 Curdie Street, Cobden on Monday, June 22, 2026 commencing at 1pm.
In accordance with family wishes, a private burial will be held.

In memory of Lorraine, donations to Dementia Australia would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the Church.

Kind, gentle and stoic, you touched the lives of many around you.
Your legacy will live on in your beautiful daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and in the many memories shared by those who loved you.

Wonderful memories of an inspirational lady who left many fingerprints on me and my outlook on the World. I was blessed to have her as a Girl Guide Leader and lucky in later years to still have her presence in my life. I am certainly a better person for having known her.
