Tributes
I would like all Garys friends and family to know that today he lost his fight against Emphysema which he had been fighting for the last few years.
Gary was brave stoic and at times emotional though our many trips to Geelong for medical appointments. we talked together about our time in western Australia good or bad and things we had done together.
Gary will be remembered by us his family as a person who loved his fishing whether it be river, rock or surf and I remember him coming home with lots of good catches after a weekend away fishing with his beloved uncle Max Redpath.
Also in his younger days he loved rabbit, duck and pig shooting.
Although Gary loved his friends and they loved him back he was slowed and suffered for many years with back pain after two major back operations that were not completely successful he was housebound for long periods of time and unable to do the many things we enjoy as we age.
Gary Thomas Rippon you were my brother for good or bad I love you and I will miss you. RIP.October 05, 2017 8:34 am
Gary
To the Lane family you were 'Uncle Slim ' and you were family.
Together we shared the good times , the bad times and everything in between
When our children came along , first Brooke then Dylan 15 months later it was easy to see why those who knew & loved you described you as 'the big Man with an even bigger heart ' Over the next 18 years or so many great memories were created , beginning with the time you spent with them at the kitchen table , sometimes with the patience of a saint, putting together the little toys from the Yowie chocolate eggs that you brought for them each time you came to visit, to the camping & fishing trips we had Together You were always there for all of us
Thank you Slim . We will always miss you. My only hope is that you have found the peace & love that you deserveCherie Lane xx
