Passed away suddenly on October 8th 2026
Beloved wife of Colin. Loved and adored mother of Joel, Jemma, Anna and Kieran and their partners. Special Granny to Ben and Sadie, Eddie and Marley, and Lars. She loved them all with a passion.
‘One journey ends, two new ones begin, go well with peace and love until we meet again’.
May your soul and spirit flow into the mystic.

1. Deepest sympathies to Anna, Lars and the Ritchie Family . Such a big part of my youth was spent in the Ritchie home , I was absolutely honoured to always feel welcomed there . I still think of Meryl when I’m at the supermarket and see a packet of healthy corn chips , a staple in the Ritchie pantry .

2. My Granny will forever be a model of generosity and enthusiasm for others. She was so full of life and had a wonderful sparkle in her eyes when it came to enthusing and helping others and their interests. This Liveliness makes it so hard to believe she has passed. I will never forget her role as my granny and how influential she was to my life. I will miss you my beloved Granny.

5. My heart breaks on so many levels with the sudden loss of Meryl. She was the kindest Mother in law. I would always tell people that there were no bad mother in law jokes in my family because I had the best. She was such a loving and supportive Wife and Mother, but my favourite role to see her in was Gran. How special to watch her grow a bond with her grandchildren. Ben was so very lucky to have so much time with her as a baby and their bond will never be broken. Sadie also felt like she had a special bond with her Granny because she was the only granddaughter. But that was indicative of Meryl, she made them all feel special in their own way. I am sad at the loss of a wonderful woman, I’m sad that Colin has lost his partner of 56 years, I’m sad for Joel, Jemma, Anna and Kieran for the loss of their beautiful Mum and I have deep empathy for the whole family as I know first hand how hard it is to lose the matriarch of your family.
   She will be so very missed by so many people.
