  10. It has been such a privilege to have known Peter, Heather and family for so many years. Your friendship, fellowship and spiritual guidance over time has been invaluable. Peter, you were such a wonderful man of God, and gave of yourself unstintingly for the cause of the Gospel. You have indeed kept the faith, you have fought the good fight, and you have run the race. Now you have entered into your eternal reward in Heaven. I can just imagine you and Jesus going fishing together!
For Heather, Daniel, Rebecca, Rachel and your family, the ache of your loss will be immense, but I pray that God who is near to the broken hearted will comfort your hearts and strengthen you and minister to you as you grieve for Peter who has gone home before you, awaiting your arrival one day to be reunited once more.

  11. Deepest heart felt sympathies to Heather, Daniel, Rebecca & Rachel and all the family.
We are shocked & deeply saddened to hear about Peters passing.
Always remembering & acknowledging how lucky I was to have had Peter & Heather in my life from such an early age. The most selfless, faithful & supportive people.
I’m sure many others will remember our time at “Young People’s” and know only too well the consistent & genuine example Peter set.

  12. I was encouraged by the agreeable discussions I had with Peter, a minister of the Gospel who earnestly contended for the faith. We will catch up.

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelation 14:13).

  13. Peter Smith my pastor, friend & spiritual father finished his race well and is now in heaven with Jesus. He will have received a “well done, good and faithful servant”. His heart for people was inspiring. He created a church environment where ‘failure was not fatal’; a place where people could grow in their giftings and callings. He loved deeply; was a father to many and a godly role model in all aspects of life. When you felt lost or confused he spoke life and hope & reminded you of who you are in Christ. Thank you for everything; from the practical things like helping me buy cars, to standing with me in the storms of life; offering me a safe place to weather the storm. Thank you for believing in me and teaching me to live a life empowered by the Holy Spirit, opposed to living by my own strength. You will be incredibly missed but you’ve also left an incredible legacy. So thankful to have done life with you these last 18 years.

  20. So sorry to hear your Dad passed away Rachel and Rebecca, and your husband, Heather. Peter and I were close friends for years in Ballarat, and when he went to Hamilton. The late night chats were a highlite! I liked Peter’s love of the scripture, and his love of discussing it, and the church. A great loss too soon!
