TAYLOR, Thelma Grace

Born Thursday September 11, 1924. Passed away Sunday September 15, 2019.

Thelma passed away peacefully at Anam Cara House, Colac, 4 days after her 95th birthday. Predeceased by her loving husband James Jeffrey on December 3, 1984. She was raised and adopted by her uncle, Bert Spencer and her auntie Grace. Thelma was the mother of 5 children, Jeff, Pete, Kathleen, Elizabeth and Frances. Mother in-law to Chris, Gail and Mark. She had 21 grand-children and many great grand children.

She worked in her father’s car dealership – Parr and Spencer and continued to work there when her husband, James Jeffrey joined the business in the mid 1940’s. The business name was changed to Spencer Taylor in 1979.

Thelma loved her family and her many friends; enjoyed travelling, singing and playing her piano. She lived her catholic faith and had a profound spirituality right to her last days. She was looking forward to being reunited with her husband after missing him for the last 35 years.

Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Anam Cara and Prompt Care, Dr. Mira Pojani and Fr. Michael O’Toole of St. Mary’s Parish. Their support, and that of her daughter Elizabeth, allowed her to live independently which she highly valued.

  4. My thoughts to Liz and the Taylor family members at the passing of Thelma. She was a very inspirational and friendly lady whom I met after she relocated back to Colac in her later years. Thelma was very interested in others and a broad spectrum of life and living. In recent times, Thelma wanted to learn how to play chess, this she did with determination and perseverance. She was a regular with our bus outings and library visits where she was a friend and respected by all. Lots of fun and friendship was had.
