  2. An educator, a friend, a treasured memory. An example for us all and now a spirit that will live for us all eternally. Often we reflect on our own lives and think of those who make up part of our soul, part of our journey through life and it is with Mike that he and now too his spirit and memories form part of my life. A time to say thank you for being part of my life and how you and dear Trina have always been in my conscious soul. My heart felt love to you Mike, to Trina and family.

  10. I considered Mike one of my best friends. We met way back in 1972 in Chico, California. He was working on a Masters Degree in History and I was working on a Masters Degree in English. We met in an English class. We became good and fast friends that year. Towards the end of the year I began talking about heading to Australia for a teaching job, as the State of Victoria had a drastic shortage of teachers. Mike eventually decided to head to Australia as well. In fact, he ended up getting there before me. I was assigned to Eaglehawk Jr. High School just outside of Bendigo, but it wasn’t long before we were back in touch, and that is when I met the wonderful woman who was to be his soulmate, the love of his life: Catriona. Despite the fact that I moved on after two years, we, Mike and I remained in touch. He, Catriona and the boys visited my wife and I in Davis, California in 1985, and I thank God I made it back to Victoria in around 2009. Everytime we got together, no matter how much time had past, it was like we had just seen one another yesterday.

Mike, as so many of his friends mention here, was one special person. Gentle, kind, thoughtful, fun-loving, a fine and dedicated teacher, and an incredible friend. There was much to emulate about Mike. He was that sort of person.

My heart will never be the same now that he is no longer on earth. It simply won’t be. And it shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be.

I miss you so very much!!!
